Fentanyl found in boys bathroom at Grasso Tech – Eyewitness News 3

GROTON, CT (WFSB) – A substance identified as fentanyl was found in a boys bathroom at Ella T. Grasso Technical High School in Groton on Monday, officials reported.
The powdery substance was in a bathroom in the academic wing of the school, according to the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System.
“The substance was tested by the state police and it has been identified to be fentanyl,” it said in a statement. “We had the bathroom professionally cleaned.”
The system launched an investigation into the situation.
The CTECS said it advised students the following day on what to do if they find a suspicious substance.
“We will discuss the dangers of exposure to fentanyl and usage of other drugs,” it said. “As a staff we will all be more vigilante about any concerning behaviors and we will be monitoring school bathrooms more closely.”
Officials said the student responsible was identified.
The student was charged with illegal possession of narcotics and breach of peace, state police said. They were issued a juvenile summons and turned over to their parent/guardian.
No other details were released.
School was back in session.
