Tech teacher recognized for education dedication | City School District of Albany – City School District of Albany

Congratulations to Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School's Melissa Hirt!
At a ceremony earlier this spring, the Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher was recognized by the New York State Technology and Engineering Educators' Association with an Exemplary Service award.
Hirt retired from Myers last June after 32 years in the district but returned in 2023-24 to continue working with our Myers students and provide engaging technology learning experiences.
The award, given to two educators, states that recipients have gone above and beyond in contributing to both NYSTEEA and the advancement of technology education throughout New York State.
Hirt is also a Capital Region New York State Master Teacher (Emeritus), National Board Certified Teacher, Northeastern District Vice President of NYSTEEA and STEM Collaborative Representative for NYSTEEA.
We are lucky to have Melissa Hirt here at Myers and please join us in celebrating this honor and her commitment to City School District of Albany students.
