Nepal promises friendly climate for investment – The Indian Express

Nepal’s two-day investment summit kicked off Sunday with its government soliciting external investment in 150 projects and promising the most favourable climate for them.
The summit inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is being attended by over a thousand delegates from more than 55 countries, including 140 from India. “We offer… the best climate for investment that will be mutually beneficial and Nepal to move on the path of economic prosperity,” Dahal said.
India’s Minister for Commerce Piyush Goyal said in his zoom- delivery that investing in Nepal was not only a profit inspired move of India, but a part of PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Neighborhood First Policy.’
Luo Zhaohui, head of China’s International Development Cooperation Agency, said it would prefer investing generously under the Belt and Road Initiative.
India expresses deep concern and strong protest to Canada over pro-Khalistan slogans raised at a Toronto event attended by PM Justin Trudeau. MEA states that such events continue unchecked in Canada, highlighting the political space given to separatism, extremism, and violence. This has negatively impacted relations and encouraged a climate of violence, affecting Canadian citizens.
