AD Ports Group Strengthens Digital Trade Solutions Arm with Dubai Technologies Acquisition
AD Ports Group has taken a significant step forward in its digital evolution, acquiring a 60% stake in Dubai Technologies for Dhs28 million. This strategic acquisition is designed to reinforce the Group’s position as an integrated digital trade solutions provider, while enhancing its in-house technology capabilities.
Dubai Technologies, a company with FY2023 revenues of Dhs70.5 million and EBITDA of Dhs8.4 million, has developed several innovative technology platforms. Among these is Minato, an intelligent ports’ operations management platform that leverages advanced digital twin technology. International port operators have already adopted this platform, attesting to its potential and effectiveness.
This acquisition will dovetail with Maqta Gateway’s digitalization offerings for ports, creating cost synergies across AD Ports Group’s international port operations. In addition to Minato, Dubai Technologies provides transportation platforms for fleet management, passenger transportation, smart driving analytics, and waste transportation management. These platforms will enhance logistics efficiencies within AD Ports Group’s hinterland and industrial zones.
AD Ports Group’s acquisition of Dubai Technologies is a clear signal of its intent to bolster its position as an integrated digital trade solutions provider. The move also marks a strategic pivot towards increased self-reliance on critical technologies. The investment aims to expand the company’s digital trade portfolio, extend in-house capabilities, and strengthen its international market presence.
Dubai Technologies, which boasts a team of over 300 members across the UAE and India, will play a key role in the Group’s ongoing digital transformation. The existing leadership team will remain in place to oversee the strategic growth plans and ensure the continued delivery of cutting-edge solutions.
Alongside the acquisition, AD Ports Group has signed a 25-year concession agreement with Karachi Port Trust to develop, operate, and manage a Bulk and General Cargo terminal in Karachi, Pakistan. This will be facilitated through its joint venture, Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose Limited. This move is set to further enhance Karachi’s role in the maritime industry, opening up new growth avenues for the Group.
The acquisition of Dubai Technologies is a testament to AD Ports Group’s commitment to digital transformation, positioning it as a leading player in the industry. As the digital and physical realms of trade converge, the Group’s strategic investments and partnerships will play a critical role in shaping the future of global trade.
