Kiran Khalid, assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM), is the recipient of this year’s Early Career Development Award by the Association for Academic Psychiatry.
“This is a great honor for me,” said Khalid, who will receive the award at the association’s annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, in September. “I am grateful to my mentors who have guided me over the years and to our department and institution for the support in my growth as an early career psychiatrist.”
Robert Trestman, VTCSOM professor and chair of psychiatry and behavioral medicine, nominated Khalid for the honor.
“Upon joining our department in 2020, Dr. Khalid quickly distinguished herself as a motivated educator,” he said. “This national recognition further establishes the faculty of VTCSOM as national leaders, clearly adding to the rapidly developing reputation of VTCSOM and Carilion Clinic.”
