Hilton Coliseum Gameday Policies – Iowa State University Athletics

Access to Hilton Coliseum

All doors open to the public 60 minutes prior to game time.

Student (north) doors for men’s basketball open 90 minutes prior to the game for those possessing a student ticket. Students with reserved tickets will not be admitted until doors open to the public 60 minutes before tip-off.

The southeast and northeast concourse doors open for Johnny’s guests 90 minutes before tip-off. Johnny’s guests must have a ticket and a Johnny’s wristband.

Management reserves the right to eject, and revoke tickets to future events without refund, for persons who violate any of the terms of the license (refer to back of ticket) or any state, local, or federal laws. Violators are subject to immediate arrest, prosecution, and permanent revocation of this license.


Clear Bag Policy & Restricted Items

The Iowa State Athletics Department has a clear bag policy for all ticketed events. The following bag types are allowed:

  • Plastic, vinyl, or PVC clear totes that do not exceed 12x6x12 inches and do not have a logo larger than 4.5×3.5 inches;
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (i.e. Ziploc or similar);
  • Small clutch bags no larger than 6×9 inches;
  • Exceptions will be made for bags containing items required for medical, family, or child care.

All bags are subject to search at the discretion of security staff and prohibited bags will not be held by staff during the event. Unlawful items are subject to confiscation. 

Permitted Items
Items required for medical, family, or childcare needs
One 20oz. unopened or empty bottle of water per person

Prohibited Items include, but are not limited to:
Alcoholic beverages
Artificial noisemakers
Backpacks, fanny packs, purses (or any bag that is not clear)
Cameras (a lens less than 6 inches is permitted in the Coliseum)
Chairbacks or stadium seats
Coolers or containers
Beach balls
Food and beverages
Pets (with the exception of service animals used by disabled guests)
Strollers
Umbrella
Video cameras
Weapons
Tools, razor blades, scissors, etc.
Sealed packages of any kind, including gifts
Laser pointing devices, flashlights, or glowsticks
Selfie sticks, telescopic devices, tripods, or camera poles
Hazardous items including, but not limited to, fuels, torches, lighter fluid, chemicals, paint, batteries, or aerosols

Prohibited items must be returned to the owner’s car or discarded a minimum 300 feet away from the exterior of the venue.  Any unlawful items are subject to confiscation, and the person in possession of such items is subject to arrest.

Lactation Room

A lactation room is located on the west side of Hilton Coliseum on the street level (2nd floor).
 

Lost & Found

Lost & found is located at the guest services desk on the west side of Hilton Coliseum on the street level (2nd floor). Items lost or found can either be turned in at this location or reported to an usher. All lost and found items will be held at the event management office (515-294-7319) for up to three weeks. All unclaimed items are turned in to Central Stores on campus.
 

Lost Children

Parents/guardians with a lost child should contact the nearest police officer or event staff member. That person will then contact the proper personnel to insure the quickest remedy to the situation. Lost children are typically reunified with family members at the first aid room on the upper west concourse.

Parking for the general public is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please reference the corresponding map using the link above to view what lots are available for public parking.

Re-Entry Policy

Hilton Coliseum has a strict no re-entry policy for all ticketed events.
 

Sign Policy

All signs must be in good taste and supportive of Iowa State University and approved by the events staff (515-294-5822) prior to the game. In no case may the sign obstruct vision or endanger patrons. The athletics department reserves the right to move or remove any signs not meeting these specifications.
 

Smoking Policy

In accordance with the State of Iowa Smoke Free Air Act, there will be no smoking or vaping on Hilton Coliseum grounds.
 

Sportsmanship

Iowa State University expects all fans to practice good sportsmanship and enjoy their game day experience free from fighting, thrown objects, attempts to enter the playing surface, political or inciting messages and disorderly behavior, to include foul, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, obscene or abusive language or gestures. Thank you for your cooperation.

Coliseum Rules:
1. Unauthorized solicitation, inside or outside the arena, is prohibited.

2. Throwing objects onto the playing court is prohibited and punishable by state and local law. Violators are subject to immediate arrest, prosecution, and revocation of tickets.

3. All signs, banners, placards and leaflets are prohibited inside the arena except as authorized in advance by the athletics department.

 

Ticket Information

The will call window for the general public is located at the Athletics Ticket Office on the north end of the Jacobson Building. Single game tickets may be purchased at the ticket booth located on the north side of MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium. All tickets are based on availability. The ticket office opens one hour prior to the event starting and will remain open through halftime. Children under two do not need a ticket.
